2 Questions To Ask The Breeder When Choosing A Siberian Forest Cat

Posted on

The Siberian forest cat, more commonly called the Siberian cat, is a medium to large longhair cat. The breed is ancient and has been known in Russia for hundreds of years, although the breed wasn't introduced to the rest of the world until more recently, comparatively. The Siberian is the national cat of Russia, and most purebred Siberians live in Russia, making it a little more difficult for people outside of Russia to get one. Overall, the cat is a friendly one. They are good with kids and other pets. The cats are also devoted to their people, so they may want to spend a lot of time with you. If you are going to get one of these cats, there are things you need to ask the breeder.

Socialized

You should ask the breeder what they have done to socialize the kittens. The more socialized a kitten is, the friendlier they tend to be, as well as less shy. In general, socializing a kitten means getting them used to being handled from a very young age. At a few days old, the breeder should be picking the cats up and petting them, even if it is just for a few moments at a time. As the kittens get older, more people should be handling them so they are used to lots of people. They should also be exposed to things like vacuum cleaners or other things that might surprise or startle them. Socialized kittens should be happy for you to pet them when you visit them.

Vet Visits

Depending on how old the kitten is when you get them, they should have already had at least one vet appointment. The first appointment might just be a quick healthy kitten check. The vet will check them out, make sure they are healthy, weigh them, and just make sure they are in good shape overall. Any other appointments should include the kitten's first vaccinations. When you pick the cat up, you should find out who the vet is so that you can either continue with that vet or get the records so you can take that to your own vet.

If you are looking for a loving, beautiful, fluffy cat who will fit in well with your family, you may want to look at the Siberian forest cat. They tend to make good pets and will love to spend time with you and your family and get all the pets and loves you can give them.
